By Julie Pirkle

It's limbo time everybody! All you need is some Christmas garland to create a fun and festive limbo pole for holiday preschool gatherings. Set the mood with upbeat Christmas music and watch preschoolers have a ball seeing how low they can go. The Christmas garland limbo activity easily adapts to home or classroom settings.

What to Do

Step 1:

Pop a holiday CD in the stereo to set the mood.

Step 2:

Appoint two preschoolers to hold the limbo "pole." Have each preschooler hold onto an end of the Christmas garland and stand adjacent to one another, pulling the garland taut to create the limbo pole.

Step 3:

Time to limbo! Have preschoolers form a line and take turns seeing how low they can go. Start out the Christmas garland limbo activity by holding the limbo "pole" at arms length. Continue to lower the limbo "pole" a notch after each preschooler has had a chance to try and shimmy underneath.

Step 4:

If you want your Christmas garland limbo activity to be a competition, eliminate preschoolers after they fail to make it under the limbo "pole." The preschooler who is able to slide under the limbo pole at it's shortest height wins.

Christmas Garland Limbo Activity Tips

* The Christmas garland limbo activity works best with medium to large groups. It's the perfect activity to jazz up preschool Christmas parties. The Christmas garland limbo activity adapts well to the classroom too. You will need at least five preschoolers to effectively perform this holiday activity.

* Don't forget to give your preschool "pole" holders a chance to limbo too! Choose two alternate preschoolers to hold the Christmas garland limbo pole when it's the original "pole" holders' turns.

* If you chose to make your Christmas garland limbo activity a competition, award the winner with a special holiday prize. Christmas pencils, erasers and stickers are always a good choice. Present each preschooler that participated a candy cane.
