Holiday Snowflake Matching Activity

Who says no two snowflakes are alike? Every snowflake has a twin in the holiday snowflake matching activity. A Christmas twist on the classic Memory game, the holiday snowflake matching activity is easy to construct with some snowflake cutouts and Christmas stickers. Preschoolers will have a grand time trying to find each snowflake’s match. The holiday snowflake matching activity is a festive, seasonal tool to reinforce preschool object recognition and memorization skills too!
What You Will Need 
A Variety of Holiday Stickers
(You will need 10 different pairs of matching stickers. For example, you would have two Christmas tree stickers, two Santa stickers, two snowman stickers, etc.)
What to Do
Step 1:
Adhere one holiday sticker to the center of each snowflake. Once complete, you should have 10 pairs – each pair will have a different matching sticker.
Step 2:
Arrange all of the snowflakes sticker-side down on a table or other flat surface. Don’t forget to mix up the matching pairs.
Step 3:
The holiday snowflake matching activity is played just like a traditional Memory game. Have your preschooler turn over one snowflake and then another, trying to match the stickers. If the two snowflakes he/she turns over match, then he/she has a pair and can remove them from the activity. If they don’t match, he/she should turn them back over and try again. Play continues until your preschooler has matched up all of the snowflake pairs.
Holiday Snowflake Matching Activity Tips
*Continually remind your preschooler that even when he/she doesn’t uncover a match, he/she needs to try and remember what sticker he/she saw where so it will be easier to uncover a match on his/her next turn.
*Store the snowflake pieces in a small box or bag to preserve them for multiple uses. Preschoolers will love participating in the holiday snowflake matching activity over and over again.
Holiday Snowflake Matching Activity for Multiple Players
The holiday snowflake matching activity can be played with multiple players. Have each player take a turn, following Steps 1 through 3. The player with the most matches wins.
