Creating an adorable Halloween costume with your preschooler is the perfect activity to get in the holiday spirit! This simple and inexpensive pumpkin Halloween costume can be pulled together with just three items-a pumpkin lawn bag decoration, holiday garland and a festive hat or wig. This pumpkin costume is so easy to assemble-not to mention easy on your budget-that you can construct one for the entire family! What could be cuter or more fun this Halloween than dressing up as a family of pumpkins!
What You Will Need
Pumpkin Lawn Bag Decoration
Green Holiday Garland
Festive Hat or Wig
Long sleeve black shirt and black pants
What to Do
Step 1:
Cut a hole for your preschooler’s legs to fit through in the bottom of the pumpkin bag. (The bottom of the bag refers to the end with the seam.) Make sure the seams on the side of the bag remain intact. There will be one hole, so that the bottom is like a dress.
Step 2:
Cut a hole in each side at the top of the bag for the arms to go through.
Step 3:
Put a black long sleeve shirt and black pants on your preschooler.
Step 4:
Help your preschooler carefully step into the leg hole area of the pumpkin bag, and slide his/her arms through the arm holes.
Step 5:
Put the final touches on the costume by draping the green garland around your preschooler’s neck like a scarf.
Step 6:
Finish off the costume by wearing a festive hat or wig.
Jazz Up Your Halloween Pumpkin Costume
*Use face paint to color your preschooler's face orange like a real pumpkin. If you're feeling really creative, use black face paint to make triangle eyes, a black nose and a silly mouth.
*For girls, bring out their eyes with green eyeshadow and brush some sparkles on their face.
